Note: I did take some creative liberties when writing this since nothing is set in stone between the high school/college years of these characters and their adult life. So don't kill me...please.

[Play - See You Again by Wiz Khalifa ]

It's been a long day without you, my friend
Several sets of photos sit on a mantle piece, young teenagers in each - some mismatched, some in a big group picture.

And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again

Damien Quintrell, Gabriel Thompson and Thomas Keaton gaping at a large pizza.

We've come a long way from where we began
Irene Kenton, Jagienka Elandril and Alexandra Altman posing ‘sassily’, dressed like punks.

Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
Theresa Keaton and Cadence Altman mid-collide with medicine balls, faces contorted in shocked glee.
When I see you again

Dang, who knew?

All the planes we flew
The back of Damien as he rushes through the airport, arms waving above his head.

Good things we've been through
All the girls in prom dresses, posing together in a line.

That I'll be standing right here talking to you

Gabe, Thomas and Damien side by side in the back of a car, laughing.

'Bout another path

Thomas dressed up like a hobo with a thumb up as he walks down a road.

I know we loved to hit the road and laugh
Theresa, Damien and Alexandra all posing in a Audi Cabriolet, parked in a driveway.

But something told me that it wouldn't last
The whole group in their graduation outfits.

Had to switch up
Theresa with a mask over her head as she solders at a piece of metal, sparks flying.

Look at things different, see the bigger picture
Gabriel exhaling as rounds pepper his cover, in the desert with his unit.

Those were the days
Damien sighing as he sets one of the photos back on the mantle, and quickly jogs off.

Hard work forever pays
Cadence bobbing her head as she sits atop an elevated platform, fingers dancing across the piano as she plays for a restaurant.

Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place)

Uh
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?

Cadence half-hugging Theresa and Thomas, the trio walking through a park.

Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
Damien murmuring beside Alex, trying to show her how to sew.

And now you gon' be with me for the last ride

It's been a long day without you, my friend
Thomas laying in bed beside the slumbering Alex, head craning over to a small picture of him and his “brothers”.

And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
Gabe sitting on a crate back at base, reading the letter in his hands - tears peppering the paper.

We've come a long way from where we began
The group walking towards a highschool as youngsters, before it fades into the group walking away from it as young adults.

Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
“Reunion coming up!” Alexandra reads on her phone, softly smiling.

When I see you again

(Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)

Yeah

First you both go out your way

Damien smacking Gabe’s arm and pointing at the hall ahead at Kiki, to the larger man’s embarrassment.

And the vibe is feeling strong
Kiki dumping more books onto an already-large stack in Gabe’s arms.

And what's small turn to a friendship
Damien pulling Irene into a sudden, startling hug.

A friendship turn to a bond
Thomas and Alexandra sleeping on a couch in a pile of limbs.

And that bond will never be broken
Jagienka and Cadence gently kissing.

The love will never get lost
The eight-man group of couples all in a movie theater, animatedly chatting.

And when brotherhood come first
Thomas and Damien high five, eagerly slipping into the front seat of a Audi Cabriolet.

Then the line will never be crossed
Irene slipping Alex a nice wad of cash as she sits between her and Damien - Thomas on Alex’s other side.

Established it on our own
Thomas waggling a piece of paper in the air at the group of friends, “THE FAMILY CODE” written hastily in marker across the top.

When that line had to be drawn
Gabriel wiping his face of blood as Damien helps him off a field, a group of men groaning behind them on it.

And that line is what we reach
Thomas looking helplessly between the two Altman sisters, whom walk away from each other in a huff.

So remember me when I'm gone
Gabriel hugging Kiki, briefly rubbing her pregnant belly - in his army fatigues and such, before he steps away and climbs into a bus.

How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?

The Audi Cabriolet coming to a stop in the parking lot, Damien looking back and waving goodbye to his friends.

Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
A hand with an unseen owner rubbing Alex’s shoulder comfortingly.

And now you gon' be with me for the last ride

So let the light guide your way, yeah
Damien pulling out his phone as he sits beside Irene, nestling his head in her shoulder and taking a selfie in an airport. Thomas whips out his phone, feeling the wind his hair, beside Xandra as she drives across a tropical road. He laughs.

Hold every memory as you go
Theresa hastily stands on the porch of the old comic book store and jogs down to Gabe, catching him in a hug and dragging Kiki in with. She grins and looks past, spying Cadence, Jay, and the rest coming up as well, Xandra and Thomas pulling up.

And every road you take, will always lead you home, home
Damien easing his car to the sidewalk, spying his friends ahead in the driveway of his old home. He glances over to Irene beside him before he shakily breathes and looks up at the old comic book store.

It's been a long day without you, my friend
A photo of a young man, with bright blue eyes and brown hair, the widest smile ever on his face - arm hooked around Damien’s shoulders, who shares the beaming grin.

And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
The photo sits in front of a gravestone, beside a set of roses. “Mordecai Tresler - Beloved Brother, Life Cut Too Short” sits engraved in the stone.

We've come a long way from where we began
Mordecai looks back at the group of friends, driving a van from a party. He smiles, looks over at his dozing brother, then looks ahead

Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
The vehicle zooms down the darkened, empty road. Mordecai ruffling at Damien’s hair, earning a grunt and a smile.

When I see you again
Mordecai looks ahead again, only to throw his hand out in front of Damien as a speeding burst of light streaks in front of them - past a stop sign and a red light.

Aah oh, aah oh

Damien eases himself away from the grave, taking Irene’s hand as he walks back to his friends - his family.

Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
The group all assembled at the bar, shots in hand as they throw them up, then toss them back down with a cheer.

Yeah
Irene and Damien walking along in the summer sun, slipping up ice cream.

When I see you again
Gabe flipping a burger on a griddle, looking out at his family restaurant as Kiki moves about, taking orders with her trademark smile.

See you again
Alexandra spinning in Thomas’ hands at her wedding, white dress swaying - the two grinning like loons.

When I see you again
Cadence and Jay side by side in front of a piano, singing together off key and without a care.

Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Yeah

When I see you again

The group all smiling, laughing, as they move along the beach of their home - beside the setting sun.
