Unruly black hair hung in a mess around Rex's face as he knelt over in the rain. Lightning struck, illuminating the yellowish wheat of the field he was in. He gripped at the tall grass around him, his hands clenched into fists. From the building a few hundred feet behind him, Chrysa ran over to his side.

"Rex? Are you okay? I'm... I'm so sorry..." She knelt down by him, gently draping her arms around him. "I... I saw the message..."

The thunder finally pounded, rolling deep through the entire valley that they were in. "It's my fault..."

"No... no it's not..."

"It is." His body hunched down more, his forehead now resting on the ground. "What have I done... I've endangered so many people... all for some damned crusade..."

"Rex... it's not..." She gently rested her head on his back.

"What do I do, Chrysa?" His voice cracked, ever so slightly. "What... what do I do? I can't bring the Four Moons into this. I don't want to risk anybody else..." He sat back up, his bright blue orbs looking into bright gold ones. "What do I do?"

She hung her head, resting herself onto his shoulder. "I don't know..."

Lightning struck; thunder rolled.

Rex stroked the now noticeable dark blonde stubble on his chin as he tilted his head at the person him and Chrysa had captured. The beady-eyed weequay squealed as Chrysa slapped his face, back and forth, back and forth.

"Who did you tell? Huh!? How did they know where Rex was?" The golden eyes of the Pureblood seemed to burn; her ring covered hand was covered in blood and spittle. The weequay's face was completely scratched up. His eyes had become swollen shut as he spit out a gob of blood.

"I-I-I swear, missus..." Weez. "I di'n't tell nobody...." Slap.

"You filthy rat... we know you're the only person from the Nekku
that dislikes Rex. You're the only one that would rat him out." She kicked him in the gut.

He doubled over, hunched in a ball on the ground. The grimy alleyway filled briefly with light as a passing Hutt Cartel patrol passed by. The Pureblood spit on the weequay, kicking him again in the gut, and again...

"Hey... Chrysa... stop..." Rex extended a hand to her shoulder, gently yet firmly squeezing her.

Her bright gold eyes look back at him; there was a moment of silence, of conflict, as his bright blue eyes bored into hers. "Yes, you're right, Rex." She took a step back, gesturing down at the alien. "You should be the one to interrogate him."

He looked down at the bloodied weequay. "Chrysa... that's... not our style..."

"No, that's not your style. If you want to find out some answers, this is the way it's got to be done." The once blonde man stared at the mangled body, sorrow in his eyes. "Not only to find answers, but to find out whoever killed your brother." The sorrow instantly faded away; fire seemed to somehow fill his eyes.

"WHO THE HELL DID YOU TELL?" Rex leaned down, picking up the weequay by the collar and slamming him against the wall of the alley. The alien coughed blood onto Rex's sleeve in reply, weezing and breathing heavily. After a few moments, he brought his swollen face up to look at Rex's.

"I' was... a man... human... me thinks.." Cough. "...'e 'ad a... 'is armor was ma'e of... wamp-" A wizzing sound was heard; a blaster bolt from the other side of the alley wizzed into the weequay's head.

Rex and Chrysa looked up in shock as a huge man in black armor came into view from behind a large dumpster, charging a huge blaster cannon in his hands. The barrels of the cannon already were whirring; Rex dropped the weequay. Both he and his partner jumped behind cover just as a huge wave of blaster bolts shot at them from the man.

From behind the dumpster by the monster came a grenade soaring through the air. It landed just in between the Rex and Chrysa; they both looked at each other, dread on their faces. They both started running....

...but just barely too late to be out of range. The blast sent them both flying, sprawled onto the ground. They looked into each other's eyes, then looked back at the Monster; to his right was a smaller man, a man with red hair and a matching beard. On his jaw was a huge, naked scar. The two looked back at each other before closing their eyes.

Then, another seeming explosion detonated, crashing the entire alleyway on all four of them.

The blonde soldier blinked his eyes slowly open, taking a deep breath as he looked around his hospital room. He looked up as a deep green Mirialan walked into the room, quietly closing the door behind her. She turned to him, purple eyes staring intently.

"Ah... I knew it."

"Huh? Do I know you?"

"You're Xirad, yes?" She crossed her arms, leaning against the door.

"Uh... yeah. That's me. Who are you, exactly?"

She stared at him for a few seconds before turning to the door's control panel and putting in some commands. Looking around the room, she began turning over and searching through all of the furniture. "How long have you been here?"

"A few weeks, now. When are you going to tell me who you are?" He sat up more in his bed, leaning on his IV free arm.

The woman picked up a cushion on the small sofa for visitors, and, upon turning it over, found what she was looking for: a small black device. "Gotcha." She looked back over at him before dropping it to the floor and stamping on it. "It's time to get you out of here."

The blonde raised an eyebrow at this. "What the hell... I.. I can't go... I'm ill..." He looked dejectedly at the IV on his arm.

She shook her head. "No, look at yourself. You're still physically fit from beign in the army. This is all a set up. This is some kind of twisted experiment. I suspect that the fluid in your IV is actually what is making you feel ill." She walked over to him and touched the tube that fed into his arm. "May I?"

He blinked at her. "Huh?" She, with out any hesitation, ripped the IV out of his arm. "Ah, shit!" He quickly covered the small hole in his arm. "What are you doing?"

She rolled her eyes at him. "I'm getting you out of here, stupid. We've got to go save your brother, now." Her head jerked to the door as a distant alarm could suddenly be heard going off. "Time's up. Let's go. I'll get you new clothes once we're out of here."

"Uh..." Xirad nodded slightly before slowly sliding out of the bed, his scrubs hanging loosely around him. "So.... my life... that wasn't just a dream? That was all real?"

"Yeah. I don't know what the hell is wrong with these people, but we're going to figure it out." She grabbed one of his arms and draped it around her. "Now, let's go."

He looked at her face intently for several seconds. "You're... Neria."

Purple eyes went wide in surprise. "How do you know my name? You were just asking who I was a second ago..."

Blonde hair hung loosely in the man's face as he narrowed his eyes. "I... I don't know. I just kind of... knew." He doubled over slightly, his free arm covering his gut. "Oh... oh, shit..."

The door busted open as several security guards ran in, blaster pistols aimed at the alien. "Don't move! You can't just kidnap a patient here!"

Neria sighed slightly. "Sorry, boys, I doubt you're in on this, but you're in may way." She waved her free hand in front of her, sending the three guards flying into the wall and knocking them unconscious. Pulling the blonde over with her to the window, she set him gently against the wall. "Hold on a second."

"Wait... I thought we were leaving." He raised an eyebrow inquisitively at her, still doubled over.

"We are." She slammed her palm into the window, sending glass pieces flying. After clicking a few buttons on her wrist-com, a speeder came speeding into view - being driven by a woman with very light blonde hair. "Hop on in." She grabbed the blonde again and guided him into the speeder.

Rex let in a huge gasp of air before coughing. After a few moments, tears streaming down his eyes, he took a sluggish look around at his surroundings. Screaming and crying could be heard from the surrounding building as the once blonde man struggled slightly before looking down at the rubble covering his legs. He looked over to his unconscious Sith companion; she, too, covered in rubble. Sparks from broken power lines would illuminate the ruined alley every few moments; he could see a hand, almost as if still reaching, twitching from the rubble where the attackers were.

The sparks stopped.

Shadow seemed to seep in around Rex; even all sound was warped out of existence.

He heard a silky touch whisper at his ear.

"I still have a few games left to play with you... I can't let my dogs kill you yet..."

The shadow disappeared.

Xirad warily stared at the other two occupants of the airspeeder. They were talking to each other, but... the words did not register in the blonde's mind. All he could notice were that Neria seemed to give off a feeling of... peace, yet, somehow simultaneously, anxiety. The blonde woman, on the other hand, radiated, agitation, anger... her body language gave off the impression, of course, but... there was also something more.

"...Xirad."

"Xirad."

"Xirad!"

The blonde shook his head, realizing that they were both looking back at him. The Mirialan gave the blonde woman a look before looking back forward to assume flying. The blonde woman narrowed her eyes at the man.

"You're... Oninia."

She seemed taken aback. "What? How do you know?" The two women seemed to be... surprised. Scared.

He winced, doubling over slightly in his seat and grabbing at his abdomen. He looked back up at them, a stray strand of blonde hair in his face. "I... don't know how I know. I just feel like I've met you before." He shook his head. "That doesn't matter, not until I really know what's going on!" He glared right back at the other blonde.

Oninia looked to Neria, who narrowed her eyes at the steering wheel; Xirad could feel, somehow, that she was thinking hard over what to say next.

The Mirialan made up her mind. "Tell him."

The human woman looked back to Xirad again. "We're part of some huge conspiracy. Something... big. Bad. Not just you, us two as well."

He raised a brow at her. "Uhh..."

She sighed. "Look, just let me explain. You were a soldier, right?"

"I still am, but... the doc's told me it was just a dream to cope with-"

"It wasn't a dream. Those doctors? They're a part of this conspiracy, this group. At least, most of them. We're not sure how many." She shook her head. "But, anyway, that's not the point. The point is that weird shit has happened to you your entire life. Not just to you, but to your brother-"

She was cut off as another speeder slammed into theirs, sending it crashing into a nearby tower.
________________________________________________________________

A heavy pair of fur lined boots thudded onto the durasteel of the tower's platform. The crash point was large; there was bent metal and debris everywhere; flames quietly raged all around. The first pair of boots was soon joined by another.

The wampa armor man was there; his weequay companion wielded a crude looking slug-thrower shotgun.

The Monster had arrived.

He silently nodded to his companion, who rushed off through the flames to find the bodies of the speeder's occupants.

Xirad coughed heavily, taking in his surroundings.

"I managed to force shield us enough that we didn't get too banged up in... all that. Come on, we've got to get out of here. They're coming for us." The Mirialan extended her arm to help him up. Oninia was already prepared, a lightsaber already drawn and ready.

They're... Jedi...

He graciously accepted her hand, letting her haul him to his feet. He dazedly looked all around, taking in the surroundings. The speeder had crashed through several rooms of the building, leaving a gaping hole in the side of the tower; wind shrieked in from the opening, wildly blowing their hair all about.

"Let's go, then..."

As Solljus slowly walked through the tower, his head looked up and down the carnage his partner was leaving. His mask-covered eyes seemed to take in the corpses of the people working there; some of their bodies were still at their work desks, their heads slumped down onto their holoterminals.

His head suddenly snapped to a corner of the room; he walked over, passing bodies and desks. He leaned down under a desk to find a quivering human; the man was shaking so badly that even his mustache quaked.

The Monster grabbed the man by the neck; an audible gasp sounded from the man, the wind being squeezed out of him. The Monster held him in the air in front of him for several seconds, taking in a deep breath through his nose. He paused momentarily.

He effortlessly threw the man up into the security camera that was just above them.

The three crash survivors watched, breathlessly, wide eyed, as the black armored weequay walked up to their speeder. Behind the cover of a half fallen wall, Neria gestured for the others to follow her.

“The game isn’t over…”

“I never want to see your face again...”

“Rex, are you okay? I’m so sorry…”

“You’re a coward…”

“You are my creation…”

Rex’s eyes shot open, his whole body leaping up into the air. “Gah!” He looked around him; he was in a filthy room, sitting on a dirty bed. A decently clean bandage was wrapped around his bare chest; other, smaller, just-as-yellow bandages covered patches on his arms and the side of his face, as well. It was after a few moments of taking in the dim surroundings that Rex doubled over, clutching at his belly. “Ah, shite…” He got up, but then fell down on the ground. He looked down at his legs, only now realizing that they were covered in a pair of crude mechanical casts. “What the heck…” A thin Twi’lek in an old-fashioned lab coat walked into the room.

“Sit down, you idiot! You were in a crazy accident. You need to rest.” He walked over and rougly helped lift the other man back onto the bed.

The black haired man nodded. “Thanks… where’s my friend? The Pureblood? Is she okay? Are you a doctor?”

The twi’lek snickered. “That red beaut is fine… She’s in the next room over. And yeah, I’m a doctor. You could say that.”

Rex nodded again, hunched over in the bed. “Great… Who are you? Where am I? Who brought me here?” The dark yellow lights flickered slightly.

“Why, you’re awful full of questions, aren’t ya?” The twi’lek gave the human a brown toothed grin. “I’m Trilo. You’re in my… butcher’s shop. It’s off the grid. Chrysa gave me a call, and I was able to get ya extracted before the Hutts could show up.” He nodded to Rex’s legs. “And, I’m sure you’ll ask, but yes, it’ll be a wee while before you can fully use them legs of of yours. Unless you want some cybernetic help, but that’ll cost ya!”

Rex sighed, waving the Twi’lek off. “Sure, sure, whatever. Can I talk to Chrysa? In private?”

“As long as you don’t do any more than just talk, eh?” The yellow skinned alien gave him a coy wink, one of his lekku twitching.

The human gave him a disgusted look. “Just send her in, okay?” Trilo snickered again before turning and leaving. A few moments later, Chrysa came limping in. She gave Rex a sad smile.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

They looked at each other for several moments, silence filling the room. The Pureblood broke the silence, walking over to Rex and sitting next to him. She gently placed her red hand on his. “What… I don’t know what to do.” Her golden eyes glowed as the lights flickered again. The fear in her voice was clearly audible.

Rex turned his hand over and grabbed hers. There were several more moments of silence.
“I heard… a voice. Before I blacked out.”

Her eyes narrowed, staring intently at him. “A voice? What did it sound like?”

“Well…” He sat up slightly. “It was… weird. I was there, and then…. It was as if darkness physically almost… filled the air.” He grunted slightly, shifting his weight some more. “I could feel it. And then I heard a voice… it sounded like a woman’s voice. But…. it sounded dark too.” He sighed again, shaking his head then looking back at her. “Does that make sense?”

Chrysa’s face was full of horror. “Oh, no…”

Xirad, Oninia, and Neria all froze in their path as they heard a door smash down above them. They had managed to find stairs and make it one floor lower. Oninia gestured for the other two to go through the doorway in front of them, leading to the rest of the level of the tower. "Quick! Hide!" She whispered frantically.

Oninia took the blonde man's arm and wrapped it around her shoulder, half carrying him along with her into a now abandoned room. She pulled him down and, together, they laid down underneath a desk. All they could hear was their own breathing.

Neria stood to the side of the door, a small pistol that she had taken from her speeder in hand.

The hiding blondes could hear a small scuffle as the Mirialan shot the weequay in the head, her blaster set to stun mode. They let out a sign of relief, and were about to leave from cover when they heard it.

Thump.

Xirad and Oninia heard Neria let out a yelp, then what sounded like a body slumping to the ground.

They were dead silent. Xirad looked at Oninia's face; he saw, and felt solely pure terror. He felt the room go cold.

Thump.

The two heard heavy footfalls from the other side of the desk. Xirad narrowed his eyes before leaning forward and putting his hand over Oninia's mouth and nose. He put a finger over his lips and nodded at her and mouthed, "Not a sound."

The footsteps stopped. They heard the steps move a little further away, as well as what sounded like a man grunting. And... something being dragged.

The blonde man slowly removed his hand from Oninia's mouth, the both of them almost simultaneously taking in a big gulp and sighing quietly.

He held up a man in a 'wait', sign. He slowly, as sneakily as he could, crept from their spot and peaked over the desk. Nobody there.

There was, however, a bloody streak on the floor of the doorway that led out of the room. He looked back down at Oninia quickly, silently beckoning for her to come out as well. They both looked around, creeping towards another door leading out of the room.

The door opened.
