So this is something else that you've had to see comin' a mile away. But it might please you to know that not I don't plan to change anything except for the name of the so-called "Division." In canon the colloquialism borrows takes itself from the last word in the Strategic Homeland Division, which also goes by the acronym SHD. In this game I'm going to be referring to them as the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, not only because I like the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. better, but because I think it's far more fitting for the organization in question.
The only other thing I'd like to talk about here are the connections between The Division and the rest of Tom Clancy's works. Even though The Division has Clancy's name attached to it, I have so far yet to see any references to things like Ghost Recon, the Ryanverse, Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell. This could be considered strange, since all four of those things featured both political scandal and major terrorist attacks. However, I'm also well aware that these same four things often contradict themselves. (Heck, it's been confirmed by Ubisoft that all of the Advanced Warfighter games, Future Soldier, Shadow Wars, Phantoms, both H.A.W.Xs games and EndWar are all a part of a unique alternate timeline!)
So I'm going to go ahead and say that that's the case here; that this latest interactive story experience of ours takes place in an alternative timeline that's not home to just the Strategic Homeland Division / Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division but other iconic Tom Clancy organizations as well! I will ask that you all refrain from mentioning the events of other Tom Clancy works though, if only for the sake of keeping things simple.
